Migration frustration

Hi!

I got my new Classic 3 phone a couple of days ago and after putting a microSD card in the phone and powering it up, the first thing I did was to connect to my WiFi network so I could make sure the phone had the latest version of the BlindShell system. Then after restarting both the Classic 2 and 3 phones, I then attempted to do the data migration from the Classic 2 to the Classic 3. It crashed.

First the Classic 2 started going through my apps, then it attempted to make some connection, I assume it was a connection between the Classic 2 and 3 phones, after a long pause, the Classic 2 went back to the main screen, the Classic 3 downloaded and installed the apps I had installed, then it declared that the migration completed successfully. When I could use the Classic 3 I found that none of my data was transferred and that the Classic 3 phone was so sluggish that it was pretty much unusable. I tried restarting the phone again, but it still took a long time to restart and it was still sluggish to the point of being unusable. So I did the only thing I could think of and that was to do a factory reset on the Classic 3 and try the data migration again just in case I did something wrong.

The second migration attempt resulted in pretty much the same thing even though I carefully checked the instructions to make sure I was doing everything correctly.

If I were to hazard a guess as to what is wrong, I’d say that for whatever reason when the phones attempt to establish a connection, it is not happening.

I have sent BlindShell support an email with all of this information and so far there has been zero response! And yes, they are back from their Christmas break because I no longer get the out of office auto replies.

So at this point I am going to do the only thing I can think of and that is to do another factory reset on my Classic 3 phone and do the data migration myself manually.

Thanks, BlindShell, for all the support and help! I’m sure that any prospective customers will be impressed.

I’m VERY GLAD I read this, because I considered migrating MY BSC2 data to the 3, but NOW, FORGET THAT!

You might want to try using their migration utility anyway, it just might work for you which will save you a lot of work. On the other hand I have finished migrating my data from my Classic 2 to my Classic 3 and I have to say that I am not at all disappointed with the results. I would say that my results are just as good as their migration utility, if not better!

Well, I found the Classic 3 underwhelming. It might be worth the nearly $700 price tag but not if you have something like their Classic 2 phone. So I am sending mine back and will continue to use my Classic 2. When I want more than my Classic 2 provides, I’ll simply go back to the 3rd generation iPhone SE I still have from when I switched to the Classic 2. I love the concept of the BlindShell phones, but I like not being limited to apps from BlindShell even more, so if I am going to spend more money on a phone, it has to give me access to a full app store, not the private ones BlindShell uses.

Interesting! Their factory reset isn’t a true factory reset! If it was, you would get the notices you have to agree to like you did when you first turned on your Classic 3 phone, but you don’t! I have to wonder what else doesn’t get erased during a factory reset? That makes me very glad I never put any sensitive data on the Classic 3 phone before I decided to return it.

it sounds like I’m not going to get a bsc3 anytime soon. it has too many bugs in it and I think I’ll stick to my BSC too
